Rob & Anna Tie the Knot

Published By on February 14th, 2005 in Edge Insider

The past two weeks have been full of family news!

Rob Thompson (aka Dudly) one of our top notch Algonquin Park guides who was featured in our NY Times feature in 2002 got married to his sweetheart in Switzerland.

Here is an email he sent along.

Dear Friends and Family, On 28 January, we were married!!

We look back on a beautiful and pleasant weekend. Our closest family and witnesses with partners and daughter celebrated with us.

Our civil wedding occurred on Friday afternoon in the old “salle de mariage” in the historic town hall of Lausanne. Then we all went to the Vallée de Joux (in
the Jura hills close to Lausanne), where we were spoiled for three days. With fresh snow and clear but cold weather, the landscape appeared marvelous like in
a fairytale. While snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, walking along the edge of the partly frozen lake and sliding, looking at pictures from Asia and eating baklava, our small “wedding society” from Canada, Switzerland and Spain and had enough time to get to know each other better.

Many thanks for all the good wishes, lovely cards, nice pictures, donations, and gifts which have reached us over the last weeks!

Warmly, Anna and Rob

p.s. Anna’s dress is from Indonesia, a gift from Rob following Anna’s time there with Peace Brigades.
