Martha and I are in Toronto where earlier today I had the great privilege of seeing Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth presentation, live in person, actually from the second row of the Canada’s Top Employers Conference.
To say Al Gore’s presentation was inspiring would be the understatement of the year. I’ve seen the Academy-award-winning video on more than one occassion and I am anxiously awaiting an opportunity to learn how to make the presentation to others.
Al Gore’s presentation brought forth numerous gasps and awes, and ohhh my’s from the audience of over 500 business professionals. Personally, on more than one occassion the presentation brought tears to my eyes as I contemplated the unfathomable option of doing nothing and waiting for our planet to succumb to human-kind actions which are heating the atmosphere and causing global catastrophes that are entirely avoidable.
I look forward to bringing the knowledge from this presentation into our Corporate Quest executive retreat programs and helping organizations make the difficult, but rewarding decisions necessary to be champions for the earth, and humanity.
It was especially nice to have Canadian Political Leaders Stephane Dion (leader of the official opposition) and Toronto Mayor David Miller on hand. Miller committed Toronto to significant enhancements to Toronto’s achievement of Kyoto emission targets with a goal to becoming the Greenest city in the world.
