Thoughts from Alexis

I hope the beautiful summer weather is treating you well and you are enjoying time in nature.  I’ve just returned home from a great week of canoeing in Algonquin Park and am really looking forward to the rest of the paddling season.   Just yesterday I paddled past 2 young bull moose feeding in the river alongside a Great Blue Heron and a Muskrat.  When I came back an hour later I passed within 10 ft. of a huge cow moose in the same spot!   Last night I was also privileged to see a long tail weasel and a black bear on our road!   It’s such a gift to see these animals in such a beautiful area.

Our summer canoe tripping schedule is in full swing and we have many amazing paddling experiences planned throughout the rest of the summer in Algonquin Park.    We have just reduced the price of the ‘Way of the Naturalist’ trip this week (July 16-21st) and am hoping to fill a few more spots between now and then.   More information can be found on this trip by following the link and you can watch a short video by visiting the Northern Edge Website.    Some of the other trips that we are looking forward to are The Morning Tea with Moose , Wolf Howl & Tracking the Wildlife of Algonquin Park.  All of the canoe trips will be run  out of Northern Edge Algonquin and will begin by spending the first night at our beautiful solar-powered eco-lodge.    Two of the new Wilderness Arts classes will be the Spirit of Plants in August and The Spirit of Fire in September.

Take care and enjoy the warm summer months!  We hope to see you at one of our events, trips or workshops in the coming months.
Happy Tracking
