Advanced Lomi Lomi Retreat at our Ontario Retreat Wraps Up

This past week we hosted special guest facilitator, Jeana Iwalani Naluai, MPT, LMT, owner and director of Ho’omana Spa in Maui, Hawaii at our Algonquin Park retreat. Retreat attendees learned the Lomi Lomi massage technique.
Ancient Hawaiians believed that our “mana” or spiritual life force is held within our bones. Participants experienced the “wisdom of the bones”, ancient teachings of how the emotional, spiritual nature of illness can be directly associated with different areas of the body. With hands-on learning everyone learned to give the full-body art form of Lomi Lomi Massage and how to administer advanced techniques to address these issues.
With talk-story, demonstration, and hands-on practice, sharing circles, and group ceremonies the basis if the Lomi Lomi Masssage training included Hawaiian meditations and chants, anchored in the philosophy of Ho’oponopono.
One of the interesting outcomes of this retreat is that Tim Lucier – Northern Edge Algonquin program co-ordinator was invited to spend a month in Hawaii working with Jeanna on a work exchange. Tim hasn’t yet purchased his return flight ticket because he’s likely staying on for another month to do an intensive month-long advanced Lomi Lomi massage training. I’m sure we’ll also have a handful of new ukulele songs to be enjoying from him upon his return to our Algonquin Park home.
