Coming Home: A Practice of Connection

Hi! I’m Annie. I’m facilitating a women’s retreat this October at Northern Edge called Come Home To Your Life.

If you’re reading this, maybe you’re considering the possibility of stepping out of your usual routine, unplugging and turning your attention inwards this season?

I’m looking forward to this gathering of women so much, I think about it every day and can already picture us sitting in circle, practicing gentle yoga, sharing beautiful meals and laughing as we run from the sauna to the cold lake.

I’d be dishonest if I said I wasn’t a bit nervous though… I have 2 young children, as well as a fulfilling and busy work life. It takes a lot of planning and doing to step away for 4 days! Whether you’re a busy mom, a career-focused twenty-something or you’ve entered your retirement years (and any the possibilities in-between), life has a momentum that can keep us moving forward at an overwhelming pace.

Sometimes we need to make a clear choice to press the pause button, take a breath and look around. Going on retreat is a big commitment and the timing has to be right. It’s also an incredibly generous gift we can offer ourselves, a gift that ripples outwards in our family and our community when we arrive home feeling grounded, relaxed and more closely in touch with ourselves.
