Highlander House Log Cabin

Close-knit groups of friends or family will appreciate the history of this restored 120-year-old cabin.

The Highlander House is located at the top of our hill, featuring a double bed and 4 single beds, as well as plenty of space for lounging.  On the lower level, a wood-fired stove sits centre stage, surrounded by seating, a dining room table, and a card table.  An attached bathroom with a composting toilet is easily accessible.

The lower level of the Highlander House is often used as part of our Algonquin Park Explorer programs – whether it is pizza making at Rocky, our Roman Black Oven, learning about the skins and bones of Algonquin Park wildlife, enjoying some musical entertainment in the evening, and even sometimes for serving breakfast.  Guests staying in Highlander House enjoy a private loft space for accommodations, but should be prepared to share the lower level in the evening for program activities.  On some mornings, staff begin cooking breakfast downstairs early in the morning.
