“Quest for the Golden Compass”
Year-round Outdoor Education retreats with a focus on empowerment, teambuilding & leadership.
Educational retreats at our Ontario outdoor education centre gives students first hand experience learning ways to reduce their ecological footprint, experiencing “off-the-grid” living. Our centre is just a short paddle from Ontario’s Algonquin Park and surrounded by thousands of acres of forest that act as our experiential classroom. Curricular and co-curricular outdoor programs are available in many different areas to meet the needs of your group. Consider:
- canoeing & kayaking – or – skiing & snowshoeing
- outdoor leadership
- wildlife tracking & studies
- edible & medicinal plants
- ecology of the Canadian Shield
- nature & personal awareness
- solo reflection and observation time
- team building challenges
- ancient & modern wilderness survival
- navigation by map and compass
- growing organic food in a northern environment
- solar power & sustainable design
- night walks under a sea of stars
- and much more!
Helping students build a meaningful connection with nature while learning about the natural world and themselves, is a major theme of our experience based outdoor programs at our outdoor school in the Algonquin Park biosphere region.
In Winter . . .
From December through to March our outdoor education centre transforms into a winter wonderland. The abundance of snow allows us to facilitate a wide variety of fun and interactive activities that will have your students learning while loving winter at our outdoor eco-school.
Our snow-covered lakes and bush trails are the perfect place in Ontario to experience activities such as snowshoeing, skiing, winter survival skills, winter ecology, wildlife tracking, quinzee building, dog sledding, team and leadership building activities and much more. Programs are customized to meet the needs of your group.
Outdoor Education at the Edge is all-inclusive. We fully outfit schools with skis, snowshoes and necessary adventure gear. Student accommodations are in heated cabins in the forest.
